Return to the Dreamlands Amusement Park (Part 1)

    Act 1: Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?
    The party wakes up in an emptied-out and broken down movie theater. Nine men and women are in the room and all of them are naked. Philip notices that his boyfriend, Logan, is with him. The investigators all notice that part of the roof is missing on the northeast side of the building, but when they focus their eyes and look out, all they can see is a bright white fog. In the middle of the room the investigators notice four snake-like sculptures arranged in a circle with a large wooden pulpit in the center. Bushrod decides to investigate and finds a book of Nursery Rhymes called simply, “Ye Old Nursery Rhymes,” and he begins to read from the book:

    The Grand Old Duke of York
    The Grand old Duke of York he had ten thousand men
    He marched them up to the top of the hill
    And he marched them down again.
    When they were up, they were up
    And when they were down, they were down
    And when they were only halfway up
    They were neither up nor down.

    After reading the poem, Bushrod remembers that the poem was about the death of Richard, Duke of York, claimant to the English throne and Protector of England and the Battle of Wakefield on December 30, 1460.

    Philip gets impatient and starts investigating the statues. He tries to push one over but it won’t budge. Bushrod notices him and starts pushing as well and the statue tumbles to the ground, breaking into a thousand pieces. The investigators all grab chunks of the statue to use as a weapon.

    While Philip and Bushrod are pushing the statue over, Joshua Lee sneaks off behind the screen to see if the door he remembered from his last excursion to the Dream Lands Amusement Park was still there and he easily finds out.

    Bushrod, Lucretia, Philip, and Joshua regroup and then decide to usher the other inhabitants into the room behind the screen after a man gets impatient and bolts out the big double doors at the front of the theater.

    Act 2: I AM... in a world... of shit.
    As the investigators leave the movie theater with the intent of heading to the gift shop they run into a lone clown riding a unicycle and juggling flaming torches. Joshua Lee recognizes the man as Jacob Jackson, a man that disappeared after working a shift at the amusement park several years ago and was never found. Joshua encountered Jacob the last time he was at the Amusement park and Jacob greets Joshua by name and asks to be introduced to his new friends.

    After introductions are made, Jacob tells the party that they are in the dream of the great Yig. Everyone seems concerned but they continue on to the nearest gift shop.

    In the gift shop, everyone gets dressed in cowboy gear and then they search the place for any weapons they can find. Lucretia spots a fake gun with a real knife protruding from the barrel and takes it. Bushrod finds a mop and breaks the stick off at an angle, creating a makeshift spear.

    Act 3: The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive
    After gearing up, and grabbing clothes the investigators head back towards the movie theater but as they walk, the amusement park begins to change and shift. The investigators heads’ begin to hurt and their skulls starts to feel two sizes too small for their brains. The ground and all of the buildings start to bleed a thick rust that pours out of every surface and overtakes the park. A strange man with a rifle and bayonet stumbles towards the investigators and leaps at Philip Landrum, stabbing him in the side and doing significant damage. Bushrod sees this and stabs the man with his makeshift spear, killing him instantly, but then he notices strange red bugs crawling up the stick from the open wound and he drops it and backs up. Lucretia jumps in and lights the stick on fire and the bugs act as fuel, incinerating the mop handle.

    The investigators watch as the man’s skin melts away while the world shifts and the rust disappears.

    Act 4: What is your major malfunction, numbnuts?
    Back at the movie theater, Philip and Logan reunite and Logan is concerned about Philips injury and refuses to leave his side again. Clothes are given to the other people in the theater and then Lucretia has an idea, she wants to find alcohol. Bushrod wonders if there is a castle themed restaurant in the park and Joshua confirms that there is, and that it’s on a hill. The investigators, along with Logan, decide to head in that direction.

    As the investigators walk towards the restaurant they spot two Serpent Men sitting in the middle of the road. They approach the serpent men cautiously and engage them in conversation. The Serpent Men claim to be trapped in Yig’s dream. They tell the investigators they were searching underneath the amusement park in the real world for Ancient Serpent Men buried somewhere beneath Pinebox when they somehow got trapped in Yig’s dream. The investigators are skeptical but they agree to work with the Serpent Men for the time being and head off towards the restaurant.

    Act 5: Sir... does this mean that Ann-Margret's not coming?
    The investigators arrive at the castle restaurant and Philip uses his engineering skills to lower the draw bridge door down while Logan cheers him on. As everyone walks into the restaurant they see statues lining the entrance way and a large Throne at the end of the room that they assume the host or hostess would typically sit in. Above the throne is a banner with a rose.

    The investigators continue on into the restaurant proper and spot a child hiding beneath one of the tables. Lucretia calls out to him and is able to convince the boy that his mother sent her to protect him from the monster under his bed.

    All of the investigators pile into the kitchen to look for weapons and alcohol. As they are looking around, Lucretia and Philip spot and take several bottles of top shelf bourbon.

    As the investigators start to leave the kitchen, the room starts to shift and rust once again melts out of every surface. A picture on the wall begins to swirl, and moments later a strange bipedal beast emerges from the painting and attacks. During the fight, everyone but Bushrod takes a major wound, but they are finally able to take the creature down after dousing it with alcohol and lighting it on fire.

    Act 6: We shoot 'em full of holes and fill 'em full of lead.
    The investigators get frustrated with all of the monsters and decide they have had enough. They find a working gas stove, flood the castle restaurant with gas, and throw a match on their way out, completely destroying the restaurant. Unfortunately, this backfires and attracts the attention of a strange ape with four arms and six eyes. The beast spots the investigators and barrels down towards them. Luckily, the investigators think quickly, use the bottles of alcohol as Molotov Cocktails, take aim, and unleash five Molotov’s at once on the beast, vanquishing it.

    As the beast dies, the investigators black out and wake up back at home in their bed.
