Con Artists, Crooks, and Cheats
The Main Library will host a panel discussion of “America’s storied history of con artists, crooks, and cheats” on Thursday July 13 at 7:00 PM. with author and Duke professor Edward Balleisen of “Fraud: An American History from Barnum to Madoff.” Also on the panel is consumer rights attorney Stephanie Willis; Benjamin Long, the head of the Office of Consumer Protection in the Kentucky Attorney General’s office; and University of Louisville professor of history Thomas Mackey. According to the news release the “panel will debate timely topics like aggressive business practices, regulations, and the rapid growth of American fraud schemes.”
