More like Ori the dwarf.
Tell me that doesn't look like Tom Gamble!
There has been a recent change in our club. The ACL, as it was called when our club was established, is defunct. Since that dissolution, we took the club in a new direction and stood alone and carried on as an independent club. Our club is now Derby City Armored Combat, but the team name is still Louisville Royals.
As such, we are no longer limited by the previous organization. We have become more active in the local area Renaissance Fairs and the like. Our current 2 venues are the faire in Eminence, KY and the Rosenvolk German Medieval Festival in Ferdinand, IN. We hope to expand to more faires in the area (roughly 2 hour drive).
Where I am reaching out to Nerd Louisville is in this aspect; we would like to establish recurring events at local venues. This could be at game shops, pubs, gaming events, etc. If you are, or know anyone that might be, interested in this type of armored combat show, please contact me.

The ACL is being debuted on the History Channels Knights Fights. It airs on Wednesday, January 23rd at 9pm.
Molly Malone's is hosting a debut party and many of the local ACL fighters will be there, along with some in armor for some show and tell.
So, if you want to see some modern Knights and/or watch some Knights fights out on a Wednesday evening, come and join us. If that isn't your scene, please still support us and watch it in the comfort of your own home.
There are merchants, peasants, entertainers and the like crowding the area of Winterhaven. The coming tournament has drawn more than distant knights to the lands; it has drawn travelers to inns, taverns, and shops.
Sir Tyrek Elwood, a bachelor knight of Daemoon, approaches Winterhaven with his entourage in tow. Sir Tyrek has no discerning physical features that would set him apart from any other knight. His brown hair is cropped short, his blue eyes bright against his paled skin. He is a man generally older than the other knights, in his late 30’s, he is 10 years senior to many others. The Frozen Northlands have weathered his face and skin. His horse, Erredorn, appears to more of a draft horse than a purebred.
Malton is a young man, the son of an innkeeper. Armed only with his short sword, his manners are courteous and his skills with armor are keen. He has only recently ventured away from Daemoon, making him naïve to the ways of other lands.
The men-at-arms bear standards of House Elwood. The Elwood standard is a royal blue field covered in yellow fleur-de-lis, with a large black eagle. Darvis, Henry, Larkin, Perth, and Ipson have all known each other to some degree or another. Darvis and Larkin being brothers, they and Ipson school-mates, and all five worked in construction trades as young men before taking up arms.
Alas, the group arrives in Winterhaven, Tyrek’s tent set up in the corner of the parade field. Malton and the men-at-arms then begin setting up. A small weapons rack is erected along with a portable armorer’s kit. Tyrek has been around long enough to know that minor repairs need to be made at any time. Even travelling can degrade your equipment.
Standing up in it is absolutely terrible! If you get knocked down in a fight, you're toast.
This is interesting.
Yes, after rolling around like turtle to get back up I have come to understand something. Tripping an opponent in plate is HIGHLY underrated in DnD.
Start to finish, it took me 35 minutes to get from undergarments to fully suited as shown. I did as much as possible without help.
I needed help to get the pauldrons on. Without help, they wouldn't be secured to the arms and would be flopping all over.
I also couldn't get the sides of the cuirass fully seated and buckled. It was enough to wear, but uncomfortable and gapped.
The arms, legs, and helmet were all fully secured. The tops of the arms I couldn't get tied off alone, but they'd have held well.
Knight Level Squire Player Sir Ganuf 2 Anthus @Aaron Sir Edwyn 2 Dicky @edpfaff Sir Gabriel 2 Pancho @gombar Sir Ulfryk 1 Hansel @westlemania639 Sir Albrecht 1 Knappe @no1raddad Sir Gynseric 1 Johann @WJonze
Of this roster, Sir Gabriel and Sir Gynseric died. Their squires, Pancho and Johann can be dubbed knights by one of the surviving knights. A squire inherits their knight’s arms, armor, and heraldry — though many change it or take up their own. They will get 1,000 GP & XP and need to roll up full stats.
Sir Ganuf, Sir Edwyn were both 2nd level and survived, so they each get 2,000 GP & XP.
Sir Ulfryk was 1st level and survived, so he gets 1,000 GP & XP.
Sir Albrecht got lost in the woods after fighting the gladefolk. He’ll get 250 GP & XP.
Squires do not gain XP unless they are dubbed on the quest at which point they become full knights and earn XP.
Sir Ganuf becomes 3rd level.
Even as they are being cut down by Sir Edwyn, the Ogrelings are landing blows...
Sir Ganuf is struck for 4 points!
Sir Edwyn for 3 points!
Sir Gynseric for 6 points!
Sir Ganuf is level 2. Did you get a bad roll or hit earlier that I don't recall?
Yes to both (lvl 2, bad roll)
