    • RE: Looking for a 5E Group to Join

@dankerbug We're switching off between two 5E campaigns right now. Current campaign is a sandbox based around the city of Caford and it's regional environs. The city is on a major trade route, but suffers from ineffectual leadership and infighting between the nobles and landed gentry, and thus needs our PCs to save it from various external and internal threats. We are the heroes Caford needs...

Characters for that game are currently 9th level.

The other has a more linear narrative, w/ a nautical/pirate theme. Set in Sasserine, the last city at the edge of the world before the endless jungle, the PCs run around saving the people/the city/the world while scheming against other power groups. We should be getting back to that one soon, to begin a new arc (extra convenient for adding characters), and the PCs have just reached 5th level, w/ the intent of eventually reaching level 20.

The set up for both campaigns makes it easy to introduce new PCs by design, so joining is no hassle.

Standard AL rules: array or point buy, PHB +1.

      Helpful?

We call our group Digression Incorporated, partly because we play so many different games.

In the last year, we've played two 5E D&D campaigns, Savage Rifts, Call of Cthulhu, and we just wrapped a Dungeon Crawl Classics funnel.

In the next year we expect to finish both of our 5e campaigns, and play more DCC, Delta Green or CoC (maybe both), Feng Shui 2, Savage Rifts, Runequest/Glorantha, and Paranoia. Some talk of trying out the new starter sets for Shadowrun and Cyberpunk Red, but those may be more than a year off.

Board games too, on the nights when not everyone can make it. Robo-Rally, Heroquest, Lords of Waterdeep, Talisman, and my favorite Ogre.

So no worries, diversity in gaming has at least a few supporters hereabouts.

Yeah, I'm stoked. Denis Villeneuve is directing, so I expect a lot of visual world-building, which I'm all about. I do expect it to be a bit... slow... but w/ so many characters and so much plot, it likely won't feel as slow as Blade Runner 2049.

My understanding about the Dune board game is that it's getting a reprint this summer, so I've been looking forward to that as well.

Good times to be a nerd.

    • RE: True Detective Season 3

I did see that. Kinda gave me a jolt, 'cause I was gaming back then, and the only hardbacks for D&D were the three core books. I noticed a lot of other anachronisms too, but then began to think of them as artifacts of the lead character's failing memory, so they began to bug me less.

They went to some effort to make that prop, and then show it to us directly, so i wonder if there's more to that.

    • RE: Any 5E Groups looking for players?

Our long running group meets on Tuesday nights from 6 to 10pm, in the Crescent Hill neighborhood. We currently have an extra seat or two. Running 5E at the moment, and doing a one-shot of Delta Green for Halloween.

Hit me up w/ a message if interested.

Our group meets weekly in the Crescent Hill neighborhood, Tuesday nights from 6 to 10, although sometimes we run a bit longer. Currently alternating between two mid/high level 5E campaigns, but we also play Savage Rifts, Call of Cthulhu/Delta Green, and Dungeon Crawl Classics.

Looking to recruit a couple players if you're interested.

Hi @dereknc . Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, but our table is full right now. Would it be cool if I kept you in mind should we get some room in the future?

@atrius - Two would be workable. We've managed to make as many as nine work in our space, if a bit crowded, and two more would only bring us to six. If you're still interested.

@mike I have the core rulebook, found it on Amazon last year for like $2. It was clear the designers were familiar w/ the source fiction, and I liked the way... Oh. nevermind. :D
